Help writing a poem about my grandfather?

His 70th birthday is coming up, and I need some help writing a poem. Usually I’m pretty good at this, but I’m experiencing some “writer’s block”. I have some ideas down that describe him, so here they are:
-Boating “captain”, always gets us to the shores of safety
