Finding Midwest Scrapbooking Retreats

Posted on Friday, April 16th, 2010 at 1:38 am

Scrapbooking retreats have taken on something of a life of their own recently, and many scrappers are enjoying Midwest scrapbooking retreats, whether on their own or as something they’ve organized with friends and family. Many organizations, like church groups, have discovered they have members that enjoy these getaways and benefit from the scrapbooking ideas and creative energy.

Most Midwest scrapbooking retreats, or any scrapbook retreats, have someone that is organizing the event and that will provide workshops or classes on scrapbooking techniques and tips.  They may do this themselves or invite an experienced scrapper to present different techniques, layouts, and ideas.Having a person scheduled to make a presentation that has been prepared before the retreat is useful at any scrapbooking retreat.  This is because those who attend want to be sure that they’re actually going to be learning something new, and while you can get scrapbooking tips and pointers from other experienced scrappers you can’t always rely on the other attendees to share every minute you’re there. Most likely, even the experienced scrapbookers will want to learn some new ideas and techniques!  So most Midwest scrapbooking retreats have someone in charge that is either presenting something or has arranged for someone else to present.

Sometimes these Midwest scrapbooking retreats will also have products they’re introducing.  Sometimes different scrapbooking manufacturers will sponsor these retreats so that they can have a spot at a table or booth or a chance to introduce their product somehow, but sometimes the organizer has just done some homework and features the latest and greatest items. They may have samples of page layouts and ideas offered by some companies.  Very often scrapbook supply companies have items they feature at Midwest scrapbooking retreats and other venues so that the attendees can see their newest products.  This gives everyone there a chance to not only see the products on their own but to see how they can be used in different layouts.

There are many Midwest scrapbooking retreats from which to choose, held in cities like Chicago, Detroit, and areas of Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin. If you aren’t able to find a retreat that works for you, you can consider organizing your own?If you can gather enough people from your family, friends, church and civic groups you belong to, all you need then are hotel rooms, a conference area, and some organized presentations or workshops.
